Here we are, tummies full and ready for adventure!
Our first stop was the Visitor’s Center:
The only road that was open this time of year brought us past the Mammoth Hot Springs. This was the only place we really walked around so we went as far as B would let us before he got too tired.
At the visitor center, we got some picture guides for the boys so they could see what animals lived in Yellowstone.
One of my favorite things about homeschooling/unschooling has been seeing the boys inquire and learn and do because they WANT to. Just as a quick example: J, on his own, made a list of animals he’d seen and kept a count, he was so proud of picking out and putting together his bison puzzle and he read a book about Bison babies to his brother.
While winter in Yellowstone was beautiful and serene, we can’t wait to go back and see how things change with the seasons!
