Point A to Point Z

Just trying to make my way…

Making our way to Yellowstone March 10, 2013

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dee @ 5:47 pm

From the Dalles, we made our way to Yellowstone with a stop in Butte, Montana.  It’s a beautiful mining town with some sad history.  We made a stop at the Granite Mountain Mining Disaster Memorial and we were able to see the view into the mining valley.

We headed closer to Yellowstone and ended up outside the Northern Entrance in Gardiner, MT.  Dinner and swimming in the motel… just what we needed after a long drive.

The Dalles to Missoula March 6, 2013

We stayed in The Dalles for awhile so we could visit the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. There were some great exhibits that made it onto Husband’s camera and not mine. But I did get a few shots of the raptor presentation.
Afterwards the boys got an owl puppet and some deer poop (candy) from the gift shop.

There was a lot more flat land in Washington than I expected…

This sign says welcome to Idaho, but not much in Idaho was visible to us.

Crossing the mountains in Montana was an adventure. Hit a decent snowstorm, but we made it as far as Missoula.

We’re hitting the road early tomorrow!

From Vancouver to The Dalles March 5, 2013

We were fortunate enough to stay with one of my best friends while we were in Vancouver. It’s always nice to catch up with a girlfriend. Of course we did that over good food and shopping.

I found some Voodoo Donuts, trendy jewelry, and essential oils.

The boys got to play outside a bit… when it wasn’t raining…

J: “It smells like snow!”

We had a great weekend but had to say goodbye and start heading east.

Our first stop was Mt. St. Helen’s

Daddy bought the boys some cool scopes to check out the view.

Then we headed south a bit to follow the Columbia River Gorge.

We made it to The Dalles and found a Craft Beer Pub called Clock Tower Ales.

Husband got a double chocolate stout with nitro…

J and I drew some of our favorite parts of the trip so far.

Absolutely loving the history and nature we have seen so far!

Aaaaand, we’re back March 2, 2013

So I know I haven’t touched this blog in awhile. But here we are, embarking on quite the adventure — a road trip across the US. What a better way to document some of this stuff?!

20130303-093951.jpg

We caught the red-eye from HI to SF so sleeping wasn’t hard… For most of us.
I swear husband was surrounded by all the sick people on the plane.

Ah, to be a little one…

So we woke up the kids and bribed them to walk off the plane with promises of chocolate…

Then we hopped on the plane to get to Portland.

And then we slept some more.

Made it to Portland and got a van to haul our massive amounts of luggage to Vancouver, WA where we are staying.

Our plans for now:
Rest, re-pack luggage for road travel instead of air travel, and pick up Husband’s truck.

We’ll be on the road again soon… I’ll probably consolidate our travel anecdotes here so I don’t clog your Facebook news feed so feel free to follow us as we make our way to Ft. Bragg, NC!

Love,
D
